united grand lodge of England

To the Brethren and Family of
RW Bro J Jacobs

It is with profound sorrow that I, RW Bro PJF Louw, District Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of South Africa, Central Division, on behalf of the District and all Brethren under my jurisdiction, extend our deepest condolences on the passing of RW Bro J Jacobs, who left us this morning.

RW Bro Jacobs, born on 13 January 1928, was initiated into Cosmopolitan Lodge No. 1409 on 10 October 1950, marking the beginning of an extraordinary Masonic journey spanning 75 years. Throughout his lifetime, he exemplified the principles of Freemasonry—integrity, service, and unwavering commitment to our Fraternity.

He served with distinction as Past District Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of South Africa, Central Division, and also as Grand Superintendent of the Royal Arch, as well as District Grand Master of the Mark and RAM Degree, leaving an indelible mark on our Masonic community. His leadership, guidance, and dedication will be remembered with the utmost respect and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On behalf of the District and the Brethren, I convey our heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones. May you find comfort in knowing that his Masonic legacy and the profound impact he made within our Fraternity will endure for generations to come.

May the Great Architect of the Universe grant peace to his soul and strength to those who mourn his passing.

Fraternally and with deepest respect,

RW Bro PJF Louw
District Grand Master
